John Rogerson – Chief Executive Officer / Director
John Rogerson was appointed Chief Executive of the Alcohol and Drug Foundation in 2008. John joined the Foundation in October, 1994 as General Manager – Operations and has been Deputy Chief Executive, and Director of Good Sports. Prior to this John worked in the agriculture industry for 10 years, was Director of Public Affairs in the Department of Primary Industries, and founding General Manager of Agmedia, a publishing and advertising company. He has post-graduate qualifications in Business Administration.
Daisy Brooke – Head of Program Development and Evaluation
Alissa Clarke – Head of People & Culture
Alissa joined the ADF in April 2016 and is passionate about organisations and people. Alissa has 20 years’ experience in designing and leading organisations and people through change, both in management roles in Corporates as well as in consulting. She brings a wealth of experience around strategic HR, leadership, culture and organisation change.
As a mum of 2 young girls, Alissa is passionate about what ADF does and is excited to be able to help us achieve our purpose of preventing harm.
Daniel Langelaan – Chief Finance Officer
Daniel has worked in the not-for-profit sector in the health insurance industry for ten years prior to joining the ADF in 2012. He is a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) who possesses strong skills and experience in finance strategy, financial and regulatory reporting, capital management and investments. Daniel is also a Chartered Secretary with experience in compliance, risk management and corporate accountability functions, and has a passion for striving to achieve best practice in governance.
Rebecca Lovitt – Head of Marketing and Engagement
Rebecca joined the ADF in October 2015 a passionate social impact strategist with 15 years’ experience leading strategic, creative, innovation and change projects across agency, start-up, public health, and community settings. She brings to our Executive Team strong skills and expertise in user centred design and practice, strategy, creative, communications, digital, marketing, and business development. As a collaborative leader, Rebecca is committed to the ADF’s work of strengthening communities though leading awareness initiatives, strategic partnerships and the delivery of high impact social change projects.
Allan Murphy – Head of Program Delivery
Allan Murphy joined the ADF in January 2011 as our Health Promotion Manager. He has over 25 years of experience in developing and implementing programs and services, both at the local and national level. Allan brings to our Executive Team expertise in the delivery of all ADF programs, ensuring each program is evidence informed, designed to run efficiently and achieves its goal in reducing alcohol and other drug related harm in Australia. As a visionary leader, Allan continues to work to increase the impact and reach of programs and services offered by the Alcohol and Drug Foundation.

Michael Doery – Director (Chairman)
Michael Doery joined the Board in 2003 and soon became the Treasurer. He became Chair in December 2009. Michael has been a chartered accountant for over 25 years with much of that time spent with KPMG and predecessor firms in Australia and overseas. He is Managing Director of Viatek Services, a technology services-based organisation, offering tailored business solutions in print, telephony and IT. Michael is a director of various companies.
Tanya Chikritzhs – Director
Professor Tanya Chikritzhs joined the ADF Board in 2010 and took on the role of Chair of the Research Advisory Committee in 2012. She is a Professor at the National Drug Research Institute (NDRI), Curtin University where her role is to lead the Alcohol Policy Research team. She has a background in epidemiology and biostatistics, is Principal Investigator for several national projects and has published over 100 peer reviewed journal papers and reports on the epidemiology of alcohol, alcohol policy and related areas. Tanya regularly contributes to discussions in the media on alcohol-related issues and is an advocate for evidence-based alcohol policy.
Genevieve Hawkins – Director
Genevieve joined the ADF Board in 2014 also taking on a role in the Audit and Risk Committee. Genevieve has extensive experience in enterprise risk management, health management and injury and illness prevention having worked in the health system, insurance and management consulting and bring this experience along with her current work as the General Manager of Health, Safety and Wellbeing at Coles to her board role at the ADF.
Jennifer Hendry – Director
Jen is a Senior Manager at PwC and brings over 10 years’ experience consulting in People Transformation, supporting organisations to achieve their purpose through people by transforming attitudes, mindsets, beliefs, behaviours and skills. She has consulted in both the private and public sector, but now focuses on working with Government and NGO organisations on culture and transformation, leadership development and organisational design. Jen is also a volunteer with the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre and is a qualified yoga teacher. Jen joined the Board in November 2015.
Peter Kendall – Director
Peter is skilled in brand strategy development, brand positioning, creation and implementation of communications programs, and has undertaken a broad range of brand/marketing audits, and research in childcare and early childhood education. He began his working life as a Management Trainee with advertising firm, Ogilvy & Mather Melbourne, with subsequent stints in both London & NZ. After a 20 year career in senior roles with a number of leading advertising agencies and having worked with a broad range of distinguished international and local brands, Peter formed Kendall +Partners, a marketing communications consultancy in 1998. He has held a number of directorships and management committee roles and is an immediate past president of VSL Ski Club. Peter joined the ADF Board in December 2015.
Philippa Kelly – Director, LLB, GAICD, F Fin
Philippa Kelly joined the ADF Board in 2009 and took on the role as Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee in 2010. Philippa has over 25 years’ experience in the corporate sector, with a background in law and investment banking. She has held a number of senior executive roles in the property and funds management industry over the past 15 years and is currently Chief Operating Officer at the Juilliard Group, a private property group, which owns and manages a substantial portfolio of Melbourne CBD and suburban office buildings and a sub-regional shopping centre. Philippa is an experienced non-executive director, appointed to the Deakin University Council in 2010 and is Chair of the University’s Finance and Business Committee. She is also a Non-Executive Director of publicly listed Lifestyle Communities.
Ron Steiner – Director
Ron Steiner is the Group Executive, Customer and Public Relations for McMillan Shakespeare, a listed and innovative financial services company. He has over 30 years experience in management, sport and education, including extensive periods in senior executive roles with Australian Cricket and Australian Rugby. Ron has worked closely with senior executives and senior coaches of Australian companies and teams, and has a range of community interests. Ron joined the Alcohol and Drug Foundation board in 2006.
John Thompson – Director
John is Managing Director – Government Services at Dentsu Mitchell Media (DMM) Melbourne (formerly Mitchell & Partners, part of the global Dentsu Aegis Network Group). John is an experienced senior executive with significant work experience in corporate affairs, government relations, marketing and media. His 23-year career to date, John has been responsible and accountable for the leadership of a number of successful corporate affairs, government relations and marketing and media teams. Prior to joining Mitchell & Partners John held the role of Senior Manager of Road Safety and Marketing at the Transport Accident Commission (TAC), responsible for the road safety prevention program, advertising campaigns and education programs for nine years at the TAC. He has also held positions with VicUrban and the Essendon Football Club in previous years. John joined the ADF Board in December 2015.
