Engaging the media to reduce AoD harm

radiointerview

Alcohol and other drugs (AoD) impact communities in a variety of ways. When we hear about it in the media, it’s often in the context of burglaries, assault, motor vehicle accidents, and the need for tougher law enforcement and treatment options.

But there’s another story.

Primary prevention is the most effective way to reduce AoD harm. And the work being done by Local Drug Action Teams (LDATs) and others to reduce this harm is a good news story that needs to be told.

These media resources are designed to help you get your story out there.

Starting with how to build your LDAT’s relationship with your local media, this resource will build over time to incorporate different levels of media engagement – and of course, stories from LDATs on the success they’ve had in promoting their work through the media.
