Survey data privacy notice

This notice explains how the Alcohol and Drug Foundation (ADF) collects, uses and protects the information/data you share with us in our surveys.

Your choice to take part

Taking part in ADF surveys is always voluntary – you can choose not to take part or you can leave our surveys at any stage. If you would like to withdraw any responses you made up to the point you leave the survey, contact the ADF’s Research and Evaluation Team at [email protected]. Please note that responses to an anonymous survey (i.e. those without the name of a person or organisation) cannot be withdrawn.

About the data we collect

The privacy and confidentiality of your survey responses will be maintained at all times. Most of the surveys we run are anonymous and do not ask you to share detail about yourself.

Sometimes, we may need to link your survey responses to information we have about the organisation you represent. When this happens, we protect your privacy by making sure that your personal information is:

  • only accessible by the ADF’s Research and Evaluation team (and not by your Relationship Manager or other project staff)
  • removed before analysis and reporting

If we ever collect your personal information (e.g. to participate in future research/evaluation activities, or to receive an incentive/reimbursement), we will store this separately to the rest of your survey responses to protect your privacy and delete your contact details once we no longer need them.

How your information is used

Survey data collected by the ADF is analysed to create overall findings. These findings are included in reports which do not include individual responses or any information that could identify you or your organisation. These reports may be shared:

  • internally within the ADF, and
  • with our funder(s) or project partners, if applicable.

The overall findings may also be included in media releases, conferences, self-published reports and articles, or peer-reviewed publications.

How we store and protect your data

The ADF securely stores all survey data online, and only relevant team members have access. We store survey data for a minimum of five (5) years from the end of the project, after which it is deleted.

Where to get more information
